SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL OF THUNDER BAY
BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Chapter President
CINDY FIGUS
I've been a member for 25 years, being President or Treasurer most of those! I joined because I wanted to give back to our community. The warm fuzzy feeling you get when you accomplish things, making a difference in lives and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow members is my reward! My last book I read which I highly recommend was by Jodi Picoult "A Spark of Life” (shooter in an abortion clinic). I am also a "Crazy Cat Lady!"

Secretary
MELANIE CATES
I have been a member for 11 years and have held several positions within the club. I joined Soroptimist because of the mission to empower women and girls through education and mentoring but found so much more - new friendships and a shared enthusiasm for philanthropy. The motto I live by is "Be Kind".

Fundraising
KATHLEEN RISMONDO
Upon retirement I was looking to fulfill my desire to help others in some way, becoming a Soroptimist was the perfect fit. For the past 10 years I’ve enjoyed giving back to my community and forming new friendships along the way. When I’m not busy fulfilling my duties as Co-Chair of Fundraising I enjoy curling, going for my daily walks, hanging with the grandchildren and of course in the summer months spending time at CAMP! My personal philosophy regarding life is to make the most of each day and never forget to remind yourself of how fortunate you are, be grateful and keep your glass 1/2 full at all times.

Fundraising
SHIRLEY SMITH
In 1992 I chose to join Soroptimist International of Thunder Bay. This opportunity to share in the betterness of the lives of
women and girls has enriched my life through comrodery and friendship. I have enjoyed a good read “The Last Song”. Although I have visited Ireland and a cruise to Alaska; my favourite place to be is “Home Sweet Home” with my family.

Public Awareness
LEE-ANN NALEZYTY
Shirley Smith called me one evening and invited me to a meeting, that was 30 years ago. I was attracted to this organization because it is world wide, and it is women in various countries helping women and girls. I found that holding different positions in the organization (chair of programs, fundraising, public awareness, director and president) gave me more confidence at work. SI Thunder Bay members are the best! We volunteer for the same goals we have become friends and support one another. My new favourite acronym is YOLO
you only live once.
